The CSX Intermodal Terminals expansion project was born out of the facility growing out of its original design capacity of 300K containers per year. The project included:
- construction of additional gantry cranes
- high mast lighting
- more than 13 acres of additional tractor trailer parking, loading and unloading areas
McCarthy Improvement provided 67,000 SY of concrete. Because the project specifications required a mix capable of attaining a compressive strength of 4,000 psi at 28 days, McCarthy Improvement developed a mixture that met the required strength in less than seven days. As a result, this expedited cure of adjacent paving lanes.
The American Concrete Pavement Association recognized McCarthy Improvement as a gold award winner for this project. Click here to learn more.
