FAP 595 (John Deere Road) Widening & Reconstruction

Project Description

The John Deere Road project in Moline Illinois was a 2.51 mile remove and replacement of one of the busiest pieces of roadway in the Quad City area. With high traffic counts, 4 intersections, and hundreds of businesses and residences, this project affected almost every person in the Quad City area. The existing 4 lane roadway was removed and expanded to a 6-lane road with double left turn lanes at every intersection. This project had 5 road shutdowns all with penalties associated with late completion however, each shut down was completed ahead of schedule.

Beyond the roadway work, there was also several other disciplines of work that McCarthy Improvement self-performed. Over three miles of pipe was laid, 340 drainage structures were installed, and seven box culverts were removed and replaced. McCarthy Improvement also built four cast-in-place retaining walls and 2 precast noise walls along the John Deere Road corridor. Each intersection received brand new traffic signals and detection cameras with connected traffic management software to optimize travel in the new stretch of roadway.
